Theatre is a medicine no doctor can prescribe.
Gilat Foundation works with an independent board that performs its duties unpaid. With this board, we work to build solid support to do what we do best in innovative ways.

‘Pretty much from day one, I have been involved in Gilat Foundation. And over the years, the entire organisation of the foundation has become more and more professional. The funds that support us are increasing and therefore the oh-so-important activities. Gilat Foundation holds a special place for me. It is hugely important for children in hospitals to have distractions and be able to relax. This seems important to me for a quick recovery. As a member of the board, I regularly deploy my network and help think about the foundation’s vision and strategy.’
‘The Gilat foundation is named after a young friend of mine, a girl it was still, Gilat. She lives on in the activities of the foundation: theatre that brings smiles to the faces of sick children. It makes them better and that is why I am 100 per cent committed to the work of the Gilat foundation.’
Our operational team works every day on all facets needed to provide children and their families with an unforgettable experience during tough and difficult times. Father and chairman Jaïr Eisenmann is still at the helm to manage projects since its establishment in 2012.
Working in front of the scenes is Bart Bosch. He has been producing the Gilat theatre for more than a decade and trains young actors to work with our specific target group. Because of his regular presence at the shows, the children and care staff know him better than anyone else. Under the guidance of Online Producer Sofie van Gelderen, we are also taking an additional online course to also connect sick children at home with interactive programmes. To realise our ambitious plans and make a difference together, Marleen Niesing is in daily contact with sponsors, donors and funds.
‘A noble foundation with its own story. I feel privileged to be part of it. The joy we bring every week is heartwarming.’
‘I myself have stood in front of packed halls, but I love nothing more than my work for the Gilat Foundation. I am really immensely proud of that. The most beautiful thing is to see the children and their families smile despite the misery’.
‘I am incredibly proud of both the children and our donors. It is heartwarming to see that together with dozens of wonderful organisations, we can make child & parent relax and enjoy our shows.’
