Gilat Online in hospital in Curacao

Stichting Gilat, dat theater verzorgt voor kinderen in ziekenhuizen, gaat van start op Curaçao.

From 6 April 2022, sick children at the Curaçao Medical Center will gather monthly for the Gilat Foundation’s interactive live streams. From the recording studio in Amsterdam, the shows will be accompanied by the Antillean ‘Max & Jet’, who will cover a different cultural theme each month. This playfully challenges the children culturally and educationally.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia (PNP, Social Development) and Minister Dorothy Pietersz-Janga (MFK, Public Health) opened the first (pilot) show in 2021.

Gilat Foundation president Jair Eisenmann: “Theatre is the best medicine for sick children. With theatre, we can make them forget for a while that they are sick. It’s great that we can now also offer laughter to sick children in Curaçao.”

Paediatrician Meindert Manshande of the Curacao Medical Center is delighted that the Gilat Foundation will now also be active on Curaçao: “We think it’s fantastic that we can offer the children in our hospital this form of fun. I still know Gilat from my time at the university hospital in Amsterdam and it is therefore extra special that we are now also getting performances for the children in Curaçao.”

Gilat Foundation is in talks with relevant partners to make the performances also structurally possible for sick viewers at home.
