On the one hand, she didn&#8217;t like being the centre of attention, but on the other, I&#8217;m sure she would have wanted to be in every performance. That&#8217;s how much she loved theatre. In any case, we are extremely proud to be able to do this on her behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good friend asked me the other day: \u2018How many children do you actually reach every year?\u2019 I had to think about it for a while. Eventually I came up with a figure of around 7,500 a year. My friend then said something that has stuck with me immensely, namely:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;As a parent, you want children to make an impact in their own way. So Gilat is actually making an impact on 7,500 children. That&#8217;s really wonderful,&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"897\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/gilat.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230223-Stichting-Gilat-Vertel-Tantes-WKZ-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2447\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gilat.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230223-Stichting-Gilat-Vertel-Tantes-WKZ-1.jpg 897w, https:\/\/gilat.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230223-Stichting-Gilat-Vertel-Tantes-WKZ-1-263x300.jpg 263w, https:\/\/gilat.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/230223-Stichting-Gilat-Vertel-Tantes-WKZ-1-768x877.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 897px) 100vw, 897px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>These were comforting words for us. We miss her every day, but do wonderful work in her name. We will always have a scar in our hearts, but at the same time we are grateful for what we bring about with the foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To return to the question of how Gilat would have liked it, now that I write about it, I think she would have taken it at face value that she would be \u2018world-famous\u2019 in children&#8217;s hospitals.
